At the Jekyll Island Banding Station, we utilize mist nets to catch the birds to be banded. When set in the appropriate habitat, these nets are virtually invisible. Mist nets are made of either nylon or polyester mesh and are structured so birds will fly into the loose bags of mesh, from which trained volunteers extract them.
