Millions of Americans are facing winter conditions as back-to-back storms hit the Northeast with snow, ice and freezing rain.
A powerful winter storm system moving across the Great Lakes and Northeast is bringing snow and ice, frigid temperatures and possible whiteout conditions.
The National Weather Service issued an updated winter storm warning at 4:15 p.m. on Monday valid from Tuesday 4 p.m. until Thursday 10 a.m. for South Central Oregon Cascades.

Back to back snow storms expected in Vermont. How much snow to expect
A "burst of moderate snow" is predicted for this storm, with snowfall rates of 0.5 to 1.5 per hour possible, according to the National Weather Service. The forecast is calling for "snow with some mix possible of sleet/freezing rain" in the storm Tuesday, with 2-6 inches of snow expected in total in Vermont, depending on where you live.

After an extremely dry start to ski season that left resorts shuttered into December, the Lake Tahoe region is finally starting to see back-to-back snow showers adding needed inches to the anemic snowpack. National Weather Service meteorologist Tyler Salas said the heavy snow is expected to start Friday evening and continue through the weekend.
Authorities closed State Route 2 between Cedar Springs, 3.3 miles east of Newcomb’s Ranch, and State Route 138 on Christmas Eve, according to the California Department of Transportation.
