BYD overtakes Tesla as world’s largest BEV producer
Chinese automaker BYD Auto reported a 25% rise in global production of light battery electric vehicles (BEVs) to 2,221,913 units in 2025, with the company overtaking US automaker Tesla as the world’s largest BEV producer.
More than 153 electric car models were on sale in Australia during 2025, but more are queued up to arrive this year, including a bargain priced at $24,000.
